Overview

Immerse yourself in to the amazing culture and incredible landscape of the Nepalese Himalaya with this trek to Everest Base Camp. We meet on day one in Kathmandu after you've been collected from the airport and brought to the team hotel, to talk kit and plans. This is the first Saturday but you are welcome to arrive early and we can help you plan your extension so you're in the same hotel/room. On the Sunday (day two) we fly to Lukla and start our trek in to the foothills. We take it easy on this day with a gentle stroll to our first night in a teahouse. Phakding is generally where we stay but some things may vary. Day three we push a little higher to the world famous Namche Bazaar where we stop for coffee and cake and then either stay here or push a little further up the trail. Acclimatisation is key so we have a few options to assist the team. Day four we look to head to Everest View Lodge and suck in some thin air while hopefully get the most wonderful views of Everest. Day five we start to head closer to EBC by trekking to Pangboche and then day six onwards to Pheriche where we stop for some more acclimatisation. Days seven and eight we acclimatise and push up to Loboche which is where we get stuck in to the final plans for EBC and an optional ascent of Kala Pattar which is a 5,600m peak right next to Gorak Shep. Day nine we leave for Gorak Shep and stop there for lunch before the final decision is made to either push for EBC or head up Kala Pattar or head to EBC the next morning. Weather dictates this decision. Days ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen and fourteen are reversing the same route but we may do things in a slightly different order but we aim to arrive back in Kathmandu on day fourteen and then have tourism day and depart on the Sunday. Generally meals can be very westernised but also have a local feel. Breakfast could be Tibetan bread, eggs, toast, porridge. Lunch could be soup, rice, pasta, dahl baht (Sherpa favourite!). Dinner could be meat, chips, rice, pasta, dahl baht. All dietary requests can be catered for.

Having T1 diabetes (Dan) I was apprehensive. The team really looked out for us and ensured we had everything we needed to be safe and successful. Thanks Team Aspire.
